President, Nisga’a Lisims Government
Eva Clayton became the seventh elected president of the Nisga’a Nation in November 2016. She started her career with the Nisga’a Tribal Council in the 1980s and has since held various political offices, including chief councillor for the Gitlaxt’aamiks Village Government from 2004-2008, and councillor for the Gitlaxt’aamiks Village Government. KAREN OGEN
CEO, First Nations Natural Gas Alliance
Karen Ogen is the CEO of the First Nations Natural Gas Alliance, a society of First Nations in support of responsible LNG and natural gas development in Canada — with a priority on the environment, and on First Nations consultation and engagement. Karen brings extensive experience to her role, having served as elected chief of the Wet’suwet’en First Nation for six years: 2010-2016. She was also a council member for the Nation in 1987-1990 and again in 2019-2022.
CRYSTAL SMITH
Director, Taseko Mines
Crystal Smith served the Haisla Nation for 12 years as an elected councillor and chief councillor. She was key in securing Cedar LNG’s final investment decision in 2024 — the first Indigenous majority-owned LNG project. The $6-billion Kitimat-based facility is under construction and expected to begin operations in 2028. She is a former chair of our Alliance and now is its strategic advisor on external relations.
